World Cup Predictions – Who Will Win?
Recreation and Sports March 31st. 2010, 6:56amThe upcoming World Cup in South Africa is expected to be one of the most competitive tournaments in recent history. There are a lot of teams capable of lifting the trophy on July 11 and this is why world cup predictions are difficult to make. A couple of interesting facts to take into account when making a prediction:
1. This is the first World Cup since 1978 that is taking place in the Southern Hemisphere. As a result, it is also the first one to be played in Winter since Argentina in 1978. Given that the best players in the world play in the European winter, this could provide an advantage to the top teams.
2. No European team has won the World Cup outside of Europe. This is a hoodoo which continues to haunt European teams especially the favourites. As a result, many are pinpointing to a South American victory in South Africa.
