Roman Flights of Fancy
Travel and Leisure September 8th. 2010, 3:58pmStep away from the hustle and bustle and spend an afternoon on an adventure! The Palatine Hill is the most prominent of the city’s seven hills, and is an area of upmost importance to archaeologists who unearthed an entire area of ancient villas, palaces and temples. It’s also a great place to stop and admire the city in all its glory.
Go somewhere off the beaten track head out of the city on the metro before one of the many flights home and visit Ostia Antica, an ancient Roman port. Full of old houses, streets and shops, it’s a real insight into the real Rome of yesteryear and a great place to stop for a Campari.
